Mac is a sketcher, maker, and shaper of great things, turning rough draft ideas into pieces of visual excellence. His expertise lies in branding, design, and typography, which are exemplified in each project he is involved with. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Visual Studio are his weapons of choice, but he is always chomping at the bit for the next best thing. Mac is our in-house creative mastermind. He is key in creating that ever important connection between the big idea and the big reward.
Mac received his B.A. in Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design from the University of North Florida and has put it to great use. When he is not showing the "innernette" who’s boss, Mac enjoys the finer things in life, like art and cinema. You can find him at local sporting events, neat drinkeries, and many a gathering of family and friends. He has been an involved member of AIGA Jacksonville since 2007. He goes well with cheese.
Four Quick Questions
Where do you look for inspiration in your designs?
Visual research is always key to my inspiration. I'd like to lie and say that it just comes to me, but researching a brand, its competitors, the industry, and styles really helps me to envision how I will mold the design for the client.
You design for both print and web. Which do you prefer?
To me the best part about design is organizing information in a creative way for people to consume. When I entered the work force, I solely wanted to work on print because I enjoyed the control a designer had over the final piece. However, going on three years at Station Four, I've developed a passion for web design and the intricacies of building an immersive online experience.
What are some of your favorite albums from 2012?
My favorite album of the year was Lost in the Trees: A Chuch That Fits Our Needs. It's a beautiful album and it was something I just kept going back to. Some other albums I really dug were Japandroids: Celebration Rock, Cloud Nothings: Attack on Memory, Conduits: Conduits, and Metric: Synthetica.
What’s your favorite movie? Sequel? Trilogy?
Jaws. The Dark Knight. The Man With No Name Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good The Bad and The Ugly).
