User-Centered Design

At Station Four, we believe that it is important to design for the ultimate consumer of your design: the website visitor. In the absence of user-testing and research prior to a redesign, taking advantage of Station Four’s expertise and understanding of the principles of usable design combined with your understanding of your customers can at least provide a starting point for a redesign.

At Station Four we don't design for clients, we design for the ultimate consumers of their website - the users. We take a users-first approach to all of our projects and recommend that clients do as well. Taking usability into account from the start is more cost-effective that thinking about it after it is already built and will produce more a more effective and successful design.

For certain projects conducting various types of usability tests may be beneficial. Take a look at our page on usability testing to learn more.

pre-sales design compositions

It is because of this philosophy that we prefer not to provide design compositions to prospective clients. We believe that this removes much of the discussion and process that goes into creating a usable and successful site and is usually driven by salesmanship and not a desire to produce quality work.
