Content is King
Flamingo is a lifestyle media brand covering travel, food, conservation, culture and style in Florida. More than just a magazine, Flamingo is an authority on authentic Florida living focusing on diverse cultures, vast landscapes and compelling Florida stories. Flamingo Magazine constantly produces high-quality photos and content for their website. And because with SEO, content is king, Flamingo had lots to offer in the SEO department.
With Flamingo already taking care of providing high quality content, S4 provided the website the necessary adjustments to be in line with current SEO standards.
Google News Submission
Google News is a news aggregator service developed by Google which helps articles from publishers appear prominently on Google’s search engine. Exclusive to only publishers and magazines, the application process to be included is highly selective.
Station Four submitted an application for Flamingo Magazine to be included in Google News. Websites with this inclusion appear in a greater number of search results, assisting with overall SEO. And on their first application attempt was reviewed by Google, Flamingo was added to this coveted network.

Helping Search Engines Understand Flamingo’s Great Content
Station Four added a special code, called Schema, to the Flamingo website to assist Google and other search engines in contextualizing the content on the website. By adding this code, search engines are able to easily understand what a website is about, what an organization does and other places on the web an organization is represented.
We also updated and submitted a new XML sitemap to Google which made it easier for search engines to navigate and understand the structure of the Flamingo website.

In the immediate months following the SEO Tune-Up, the Flamingo website saw a 25% increase in organic traffic from search engines. When analyzing the long-term data, we looked at the year-over-year numbers to find organic traffic was up by almost 50%. Exciting results that means great articles about our home state were reaching a larger audience.
